- a compact disc with music content or spoken word
- according to the Red Book specification
- the length is maximally 80 minutes, maximally 99 tracks
- there is being used the sampling frequency of 44,1 kHz and the 16-bit stereo-recording without compression
Possibilities:
Ø CD-TEXT:It is also possible to save directly on the disk the text information describing the CD content (the names of particular tracks / songs and of the whole disc, the name of interpreter / band, the year of issue, catalogue number).
These information shall be displayed on the display of some desk CD/DVD players and players in cars; it is also possible to display them in the special computer’s players.
Ø CD+Graphics: In the sub-channel tracks of the classic audio CD it is possible to put some simple graphic information of images, which are read from the disc during the playback in the special player at the same time together with the music, and are displayed on an attached external display (TV, LCD monitor, ...). The CD+G format is mostly used for the displaying of texts at Karaoke.
Such a created CD+G is fully compatible with the CD Audio format, and the sound can be played in CD players as a standard audio CD.
The graphic information can be displayed in some desk DVD players, in the Video CD and CD-I players, in the special Karaoke devices and in the software CD+G players in computers.
Ø ISRC: the publisher may assign to each track / song a unique ISRC code, which can be saved on the CD, and serves for the identification of the recording and protection of copyright
Ø UPC/EAN: 13-digit unique identification code of the product; it can be used for any format of the CD

Ø Autorun: an automatic initialization of the program / player / presentation after inserting the CD into the PC (Windows)
We recommend: as a data medium for the software distribution, presentation of companies, databases, games, teach-ware or encyclopaedias

· the second part with data, which is predetermined for computers, may contain the data for any operating system - as a standard CD-ROM according to the Yellow Book specification
· the capacity of CD shall be proportionally divided between the audio and the data (the session break amounts to 2 minutes and 32 seconds)
· all the Audio CD players and most of the DVD players shall detect and playback only the first audio part
· the data part shall be opened in the computer as standard; if the Autorun is included in the CD and enabled in the PC, the Autorun shall be initialized
· the part can be played in PC in the software CD player (f. e. Windows Media Player 9,10)

drives (even with the very obsolete ones)
Disadvantages: it is necessary to manually skip the first track, if you want
to playback the audio tracks on the CD players
We recommend: only for the software applications, which have the audio tracks
as the bonus, for example the games

- the image resolution for the PAL system is 352x288, and for the NTSC system it is 352x240
- it is the predecessor of the DVD format with the quality corresponding approximately to the VHS system

- the maximal length of all films, clips and video presentations is 79 minutes
- the menu and the photos (for example the photo-gallery) can be of the DVD quality
- it is also possible to save on the Video CD the data for the computers, including Autorun, however the capacity would be reduced
Ø Authoring: we offer the creation of an interactive, multi-medial content of disc, and the creation of the menu structure for Video CD of version 2.0, from separately delivered video, audio and data files
Advantages: cheap and simple alternative to the DVD
Disadvantages: a lower resolution and quality of image than DVD, limited possibilities of the multi-channel sound, shorter playing time, limited possibilities of the interactive control
We recommend: as a cheaper alternative to the DVD, suitable even for the advertising purposes (the presentations of companies)

- the image resolution for the PAL system is 480x576, and for the NTSC system it is 480x480
- it is an enhanced version of the Video CD format with the quality corresponding approximately to the system S-VHS
- the IEC 62107 specification
- it is possible to playback the SVCDs in approximately 80% of the desk DVD players available on the market
- the length of the recording depends on the compression level, and can amount to approximately 35-60 minutes
- the menu and the photos (for example the photo-gallery) can be of the DVD quality
- it is also possible to save on the Super Video the data for the computers, including Autorun, however the capacity would be reduced

Multi-medial Audio-Video CD (AVCD)
- an interactive Video CD extended by the Audio tracks and MP3 files
- it is possible to playback the audio in the common desk and portable CD, MP3 and DVD players, and in the computer
- it is possible to playback the video-clips in the bonus-part in the computer, and in 95% of the DVD players (they recognise the Video CD)
- 1 or more image (photos) of the DVD quality can be assigned to each composition
Advantages: it is possible to playback in on any device - CD, MP3
and DVD players, as well as in the computer
Disadvantages: the 1st track is multi-medial; the audio starts from the
2nd track
Possibilities: same as CD Audio and CD-ROM formats; hiding and jumping over the first multi-medial track of Video CD on the desk and portable CD players (after inserting the first audio track shall start directly playing)
